Care of your krama scarf

How do I clean my Cambodian scarf?

In Cambodia, a krama scarf is often given to children and they keep it for a good part of their life, which goes to show how hard-wearing the scarf is.

Every Cambodian Krama Krama scarf is handmade and made entirely of cotton or cotton + silk.

This plant fiber is very absorbent and insulating. This means that wearing a cotton scarf is as pleasant in the warm summer time as it is in the cold of winter. Cotton is not fragile. In other words, it is possible to put your scarf in the washing machine without damaging it. Nonetheless, avoid very high temperatures. We advise you to wash your scarf at temperatures between 30 and 40°C. This is the ideal temperature range to soften the cotton scarf and clean it. You may also iron your scarf. With time, the use and cleaning of these scarves are going to make them smoother and more flexible, thus revealing all of their wonderful qualities.

Cotton + silk scarves with natural dyes must be hand-washed to avoid damaging them. Ironing is also prohibited to avoid damaging the silk of the fabric.
