Description
Viravarman was a king of the Khmer Empire, who ruled the area that is now Cambodia, probably in the 7th century, although the precise dates of his reign are not clearly established. A member of the Varman dynasty, an important royal line in Cambodian history, he presided over a period of stability and prosperity in the empire. Viravarman was a fervent follower of Hinduism and encouraged the practice of this religion, while playing a key role in the promotion of Khmer art and architecture. Although his reign was relatively peaceful, he faced challenges, including external threats and internal tensions. After his death, he was succeeded by his son, who continued to rule the Khmer Empire. Today, Viravarman is still respected and admired in Cambodia for his role in the country’s history and culture.
